Your Treatment Guide for Ombre Brows

For beauty enthusiasts both young and old, filling in your eyebrows on a daily basis can seriously get old fast! If you’re tired of that constant morning routine, constantly dreaming of the day you no longer need an eyebrow pencil to fill in your brows, we may have just the right solution!

Ombre brows take the benefits of a brow tint, but last for two to three years instead of four to six weeks. If your interest is piqued, we suggest you read on for everything you need to know about ombre brows!

What are ombre brows and how are they different from other brow treatments?

Before we start imagining two-toned eyebrows, let’s take a moment to envision the beauty that is ombre brows. While this beauty technique does focus on the eyebrows, it is different from eyebrow microblading, soap brows, and eyebrow lamination.

Ombre brows are also referred to as powder brows and involve a semi-permanent brow styling approach

In short, ombre brows provide a filling technique that is lighter at the beginning of your eyebrow, and progressively gets darker and more concentrated toward the end. This technique is frequently referred to as powder brows and acts as a semi-permanent way to improve the look of sparse or uneven brows.

What can you expect during your ombre brows procedure?

If you’ve never had an ombre brow session, it may be beneficial to understand what the process is like prior to showing up for your appointment. Luckily, the process is straightforward and easy to understand! First your brows are wiped down and cleaned before a gentle numbing cream is applied. As the skin takes to the numbing cream, a stencil of your desired brow shape is drawn on around your eyebrow to help the esthetician create your perfect look.

Once you’re happy with the shape the esthetician will begin using a small needle similar to a tattoo artist to place pigment under your skin. These small pixels of pigment are layered repetitively to shade and create your powder brows. Within a couple hours, the appointment should be complete!

Who is a good candidate for ombre brows?

Are you looking to add volume and fullness to your brows? If so, ombre brows are the perfect fit for you! Prior to any permanent makeup appointment, we have a consultation session to determine whether or not you’re a candidate for the treatment.

What to expect before and after your ombre brows appointment

Understanding the appointment process is only half of it! In order to truly be prepared, we suggest being educated on how to prep for your appointment, as well as how to implement proper aftercare following your eyebrow treatment.

Skip out on your coffee, gym, and suntan prior to your appointment

To start, let’s skip out on tanning, caffeine, and working out. All of these activities can cultivate conditions that jeopardize the success of your ombre brows. Additionally, ingesting blood thinners and alcohol can impact the results of your permanent makeup service and should be avoided for at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.

How long can you expect your ombre brows to last?

How long your eyebrows last is heavily dependent on how much time and attention you put into properly caring for them following your appointment. If you care for your brows properly, they should provide two years of visible results. Of course, like most treatments, touch ups will be required to maintain your desired look.

Your new, fabulous brows will go through a few phases before fully settling in

Your eyebrows will not reflect their full potential until about 9 days following your appointment. There will be heavy pigment, dry skin, and some peeling involved as your skin heals. Be patient and try your best not to pick or scratch at your brows while keeping them moisturized for best results.

The best aftercare tips to set your ombre brows up for success

Want your brows to last for more than just a year? If so, make sure you listen to your esthetician's recommendations, and follow these three very important steps!

Avoid getting those brows wet for 10 days!

We know this may be a big request, but it must be done! Keeping your eyebrows completely dry for at least 10 days gives you the best chance for success as water can interfere with the settling of pigment in your skin.

Apply your ointment regularly and keep an eye on the healing process

Similar to the aftercare of a tattoo, you must keep the area hydrated. Applying a thin layer of moisturizer at least once a day does the trick, and ensures proper healing.

Avoid wearing makeup until the healing process is over

It is recommended to refrain from adding irritating products such as makeup to the surrounding areas for at least 2 days after your appointment to avoid an allergic reaction. If you can, try to avoid makeup until your brows are completely healed.
