Lash Lift & Tint: Benefits, Process, and Aftercare!

Are you tired of curling your lashes? Over trying to apply clumpy mascara every day? Well, it may be time to toss your curler and mascara products and try something better! With the introduction of tinting and lifting your lashes, you can kiss those daily hassles goodbye.

What can you expect during a lash lift?

If you’re not used to having a lash lift (or really any type of eyelash work), walking into your first appointment can seem a little intimidating. The truth is, the process is fairly simple and requires little to no discomfort on your part. We’ve curated the perfect Lift and Tint guide to make sure you feel calm and confident during your session.

Consulting with your lash specialist

First, upon your arrival, your lash specialist will go over your expectations. If any questions or concerns come up, your technician will spend this time going over those. After all, informing our clients and going over any expectations helps us lay the foundation for a successful session.

Preparing your lashes for a lash lift and tint

After your questions are answered – and hopefully you’re feeling confident about the process – your technician will have you lay down on a table to begin prepping your eyelashes. This pre-lift process is simple: First, your lashes will be wiped down with a mild oil free cleanser to ensure any remaining makeup or dirt is removed.

Once your lashes are cleaned, your lower lashes will be gently taped down to avoid accidentally binding them in the lift process. After this has been completed, it’s time to start the magic!

During the lash lift and tint application

Your technician will begin by finding a rod size that best fits your lash length based on your intended finished look. While many people associate rods as a stiff, metal object, lift rods are quite the opposite. Lift rods are small, half moon shaped silicone pads that are placed on your upper eyelids and act as a type of cushion for your eyelashes.

Glue is applied to these rods and your eyelashes are gently brushed upwards to adhere to the adhesive. Now that your eyelashes are secured in place, a set of lotions and tints are added to your lashes and left to sit for a little bit. Once processing is complete, your technician will remove any leftover solution, remove your curling rod, and proceed to clean the entire eye area.

Voila! You’ve completed your quick and easy lift and tint process.

Frequently asked questions about the lash lift and tint

Sure, going over what to expect can add some much needed clarity – but we’re going to take it a little further and go over some important frequently asked questions. It’s important to have a firm understanding of what expectations come with a lash lift and tint before booking your first appointment

Do you need to worry about lash damage?

The short answer is no! The long answer: As long as you do your research and ensure that your lash technician is certified, your lift appointment is perfectly safe for the health and safety of your eyes. Any potential risk is found in overprocessing your eyelashes. If the product your technician applies is left on for too long, or applied to the wrong parts of your lashes, that’s where we start to be concerned.

While these scenarios are possible, they are highly unlikely. A licensed esthetician goes through hours and hours of training on top of multiple exams. Your health and wellbeing is our number one interest!

How do you maintain your lash lift and tint?

Now that you have those stunning, fluffy, voluptuous lashes, we need to make sure they last! Maintaining your new lashes is extremely simple – just remember that the only real way to shorten the life of your lift and tint is to consistently expose your lashes to water. While swimming, showering, or sweating won't immediately undue all that work, it can aid in shortening the longevity of your lash perm.

Last but not least, avoid booking your next appointment until five or six weeks have passed.

What does aftercare look like for a lash lift and tint?

Taking the proper steps to ensure your newly lifted and tinted lashes don't go down the drain are critical. While aftercare requirements are few, it is important to make sure you follow them if you want to keep those results.

It all comes down to keeping your lashes completely dry and makeup-free for at least 24 hours following your lift. You can resume your normal daily routine once that time has passed.
